Tech Lead – Architect (Java)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead – Architect (Java) to design, build, and scale high-performance distributed systems that process millions of records. This role requires a strong technical leader who can influence architecture, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and leadership teams to solve complex business challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems using Java and modern cloud technologies
• Lead architecture decisions for distributed, event-driven, and microservices-based applications
• Design and evolve APIs while maintaining backward compatibility and ensuring a seamless consumer experience
• Build robust integration pipelines capable of handling large-scale data ingestion from multiple sources
• Develop and maintain Kafka-based event-driven systems with high throughput and reliability
• Improve system observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies
• Drive engineering best practices, code quality, testing, and performance optimization
• Mentor and guide software engineers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to technical growth within the team
• Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, and similar platforms to enhance engineering productivity

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade software systems
• Strong expertise in Java 21 and backend architecture
• Experience with Quarkus or similar Java frameworks
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures
• Strong experience with Kafka and asynchronous messaging systems
• Expertise in REST APIs, GraphQL, gRPC, and API versioning strategies
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including services such as Spanner and BigQuery
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and system scalability
• Experience implementing reliability patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, dead-letter queues, and idempotency
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
• Strong communication and leadership abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building AI-powered or LLM-based production systems
• Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) and Entity Resolution systems
• Experience in healthcare technology or regulated environments
• Familiarity with compliance, security best practices, and handling sensitive data
• Experience with observability tools, monitoring platforms, and data quality frameworks
